As we journey through Nehemiah, we see that God was not only rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls,           He was rebuilding His people. That same work continues in our church today.

Vision 2026: Building His Missional Community invites us to witness how Christ is shaping His body through the faithful service of every ministry. In this Heart-to-heart series, each story reveals God at work among us and echoes Ephesians 4:16: Christ causes His body to “grow and build itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

As you read, give thanks for those who serve, and ask, “Lord, where would You have me build?”

STORY 02

WORSHIP & MUSIC MINISTRY: MANY GIFTS, ONE SONG

When Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem, no one person built the whole wall. Each took responsibility for a part, and together their individual contributions became something far greater. Our Worship and Music Ministry gives us a beautiful picture of this.

During COVID-19, we suddenly could no longer worship together in the sanctuary. Yet worship did not stop. From their homes, choir members recorded individual voices, pianists played their parts, worship leaders recorded songs, conductors patiently brought separate recordings together, and the AV team worked behind the scenes to produce our online services. Many people, in many places, each offered their part, and somehow, by God’s grace, many voices became one song.

This is how Christ builds His community.

Today, that song continues through our three choirs, orchestra, praise bands, pianists, instrumentalists, song leaders, AV teams and many others who serve faithfully each week. Younger musicians are also being nurtured and given opportunities to serve, while project choirs invite others to discover and offer their gifts to God. Yet worship is never ultimately about musical excellence or performance. It is about God. He is the One we praise, and every gift is offered back to Him.

EPHESIANS 4:16 reminds us that Christ’s body grows “as each part does its work.” Some sing. Some play. Some conduct. Some operate a camera or soundboard. Some serve where few people ever notice. But when each part serves faithfully, the whole church is helped to worship as one body.

Perhaps God has given you a voice, an instrument, technical ability - or simply a willing heart to learn and serve.

What gift has God placed in your hands?

Come and offer it to Him. Together, let us become many gifts, many generations, but one song of praise to our God.
