STORY 07
BREAKFAST MINISTRY: BUILDING COMMUNITY AROUND THE TABLE
When Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem, not everyone had a prominent role. Some tasks were ordinary, but every willing hand helped rebuild the community.
Every Sunday morning, something similar happens quietly in our church.
After the 7:30am service, tables are prepared, drinks are made, breakfast is served and people gather together. Our Breakfast Ministry provides simple breakfast especially for all worshippers, Sunday School and youth. At the same time, it creates a space for worshippers from our 7:30am and 9:30am services to meet and fellowship with one another.
It may look like just a simple bread and coffee. But around a table, conversations begin. Faces become familiar, new friendships form. Someone who has spent the morning serving is cared for in return. People who normally worship at different services discover that we are one church family.
This is how Christ builds His community.
Ephesians 4:16 reminds us that the whole body “grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Sometimes “each part doing its work” looks very ordinary: setting a table, making coffee, serving food, washing a cup, or welcoming someone with a smile.
The ministry is served on rotation by CGs, families and individuals, and any member or regular worshipper can participate. Training is provided, so all that is really needed is a willing heart and a warm welcome.
Perhaps God is not calling you to stand on a stage. Perhaps He is calling you to serve around a table. Come serve breakfast, meet someone new, and help turn a Sunday morning meal into a place of belonging. Sometimes, building His community begins with a simple invitation: “Come, have breakfast with us.”
