After the pandemic, many of our CGs have faced a new and unexpected challenge: how to recommit. Once, CG was not just another appointment—it was something that grounded us spiritually every week. Now, for many, CG attendance feels more casual. Priorities have shifted. Schedules have gotten busier. And sometimes, without meaning to, CG gets quietly replaced by “something more urgent”.
Maybe you’ve seen it:
A last-minute text — "Sorry, I can’t make it tonight."
Or sometimes... no text at all, just an empty chair.
And little by little, what was once a life-giving commitment fades into just another optional event on the calendar. But CG is not meant to be just another meeting. CG is supposed to be a living, breathing expression of discipleship—
A place where we live out what we believe,
where we practice what Jesus teaches,
where we grow together, even when life is messy and inconvenient.
When CG becomes optional, it slowly becomes trivial. When it becomes trivial, it eventually becomes forgotten. And here’s the deeper loss: when we stop showing up, not just physically but spiritually and relationally, we lose one of the very tools God has given us to shape us into Christ’s likeness.
Hebrews 10:24–25 reminds us: “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together... but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
This May, as we begin CG Month, we invite you to reset. To see CG again as a vital part of following Jesus—not just for you, but for the brother or sister who needs your presence, encouragement, and faith alongside them. When we gather, God does something more than what we can do alone. We don’t just fill time. We build lives together—lives rooted in Christ, stretched by love, and strengthened for mission.
Let’s rebuild together. Let’s recommit. Let’s believe that God can breathe fresh life into our CGs again.
Welcome to CG Month, being, let's make it count—together. Faith grows best when we grow together.
